CHANGES TO PARISH APPOINTMENTS IN WINNIPEG

METROPOLITAN LAWRENCE APPROVES AND ANNOUNCES PASTORAL APPOINTMENTS IN ARCHEPARCHY

The Basilian Fathers who have their Canadian headquarters ("provincial house") in Winnipeg, also maintain some important pastoral ministries. This includes their role in the Metropolitan's council of Archeparchial Consultors the maintaining of Holy Family Cemetery and, of course, St. Nicholas Parish and their assistance in other parishes around the Archeparchy. They are making some changes within their ranks across Canada that will also effect the Archeparchy.

Fr. Zachary Shwaluk, OSBM will step away from serving as the pastor of St. Nicholas Parish in Winnipeg in order to concentrate on his managerial responsibilities within his monastic order's administration. He presently holds the double office of Provincial Secretary and Econome (financial officer). He will, however, continue pastoral duties as associate pastor at St. Nicholas Parish and Director of Holy Family Cemetery.

Parochial Vicar at St. Nicholas Parish, Winnipeg, Fr. Emilian Nychak, OSBM has been transferred to a parish in Alberta. Therefore, he will be leaving Manitoba serve as a pastor in his own parish(es) within the Eparchy of Edmonton.

One of Winnipeg's favourite sons, Fr. Daniel Wach, OSBM, will be returning to Winnipeg after a lengthy absence during which he served in various parishes and positions in British Columbia and Alberta. Fr. Daniel will be appointed as the Pastor of St. Nicholas Parish in Winnipeg. (fyi Fr. Daniel's brother, Fr. Andrew Wach is a priest of the Archeparchy of Winnipeg.)
