WE ARE NEIGHBOURS CHAPLAINCY INITIATIVE

October 5, 2020

Greetings,

We are pleased to announce that after months of work, a new ministry initiative, "We Are Neighbours", has started taking root. The Tri-Diocesan Prison Ministry Committee was established in 2013 with representatives from the Archdioceses of Saint Boniface and Winnipeg, as well as the Ukrainian Archeparchy. Over the last few years, the mandate of this group has evolved to focus primarily on accompanying and assisting prisoners as they complete their time of incarceration and begin reintegration with their family and within society.
Since September, "We Are Neighbours," a Tri-Diocesan Community Chaplaincy has been gathering. Chaplain, Greg Dunwoody, with a group of volunteers, provides welcome, accompaniment, and support to former prisoners and their families through weekly gatherings at two different sites. One is on Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at St. Kateri Church at 548 Home Street Winnipeg. The second site gathers on Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Holy Eucharist Parish Centre at 460 Munroe Avenue Winnipeg.

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer your assistance, please do not hesitate to contact Chaplain Greg either by phone, 204-232-2502 or by email chaplain.wan@mymts.net.
Through this joint initiative, we experience God's love and mercy outpoured to our neighbors in need. We give thanks to all of those that have developed this pastoral initiative and to those that will continue the good work.
May the Lord continue to bless this work.

+ Albert, Archbishop of Saint-Boniface
