HOLODOMOR EVENT IN DAUPHIN

November 26, 2018

Holy Resurrection Parish in Dauphin commemorates 85th Anniversary of Holodomor.

On Sunday November 25 2018, the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Resurrection in Dauphin held a brunch and a movie depicting the historical and tragic event of the Holodomor in Ukraine. This year is the 85th Anniversary of the perpetrated starvation of more than 10 million people of Ukraine who needlessly succumbed to this tragedy.

Visiting dignitary, Bishop Peter Stasiuk of Australia co-celebrated the Divine Liturgy with Very Reverend Father Oleg Bodnarski. In his Homily Bishop Peter spoke on the present situation in Ukraine and on the Holodomor, stressing that we must not forget these events and teach this piece of our history to future generations lest it be forgotten. After the Liturgy, a memorial panachyda service was held for all the victims followed by a minute of silence.

The congregation then proceeded to the church auditorium for a brunch and the film about the Holodomor. This commemorative service is done each year in many parts of the world on the 4th Sunday in November.
