U. S. VICE PRESIDENT SPEAKS AT CATHOLIC EVENT

June 6, 2017

PARTICIPANTS AT NATIONAL CATHOLIC EVENT CHEER THE MESSAGE OF U.S. VICE PRESIDENT

The participants of the 13th Annual National Catholic Prayer Breakfast enthusiastically welcomed and cheered the U. S. Vice President Mike Pence throughout his 30-minute speech. He, in turn, thanked them and encouraged them in their promotion and defence of religious liberty and of life itself. He already won the respect of many Catholics and Christians of all denominations when he spoke at the March for Life shortly after the inauguration of President Trump in Washington.

There is also the ecumenical National Prayer Breakfast which is a 65-year tradition in Washington. The Head of the Ukrainian Catholic Church, His Beatitude Sviatoslav attended the National Breakfast in 2014. The American President usually attends and speaks at this breakfast as did President Trump in February of this year. President George W. Bush spoke at the Catholic Breakfast four years in a row. President Obama did not speak at the event during his two terms, but it is not known if an invitation was extended to him.

On the morning of June 6, 2017 hundreds of participants started gatering at the Marriot Marquis hotel in Washignton from 5:00 AM. The breakfast program started at 7:00 AM sharp. There were two other speakers - Mother Olga from Iraq who started a Mulsim-Christian peace movement called "Love thy neighbour" and  U.S. Military Ordinary, Archbishop Timothy Broglio, JCD. After they had spoken, Supreme Knight Carl Anderson of the Knights of Columbus, introduced Vice President Pence at the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast. Pence brought down the house as he went on to assure those gathered that “American Catholics have an ally in President Donald Trump”. He received continuous ovations and cheers throughout his speech during which he said many things that his audience was obviously thrilled to hear.
